About Cafe Aylanto

Cafe Aylanto is one of Islamabad's longest-running upscale neighbourhood anchors — the F-7 Markaz Mediterranean-Continental destination that has held the polished-but-relaxed segment of the capital's dining market since the early 2000s. The restaurant occupies a two-story building in the F-7 commercial centre, with the indoor dining room on the ground floor and the rooftop terrace open during the cooler October-March months.

The menu is Mediterranean-inspired with the Continental classics. The signatures are the slow-cooked New Zealand lamb shank with rosemary jus and saffron rice, the pan-seared Atlantic salmon with lemon-butter caper sauce, the sliced beef tenderloin medallions in red-wine reduction, and the Mediterranean mezze platter with hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouleh, and warm pita. The hearty soups (lobster bisque, pumpkin-and-rosemary) are the cold-weather staples. A two-course dinner for two runs PKR 8,500-12,000 ($30-45).

The room is the polished-but-relaxed midpoint between the formal hotel-flagships and the casual courtyard-Italians. Soft lighting, white-tablecloth-and-cloth-napkin service, attentive (but unobtrusive) waitstaff, and the F-7 Markaz neighbourhood setting deliver a date-night-or-business-dinner rhythm without the hotel-flagship formality.

Reservations matter for weekend evenings; three-to-five days ahead is enough. The restaurant accepts cards, the staff speak strong English, and the post-dinner stroll through the F-7 Markaz boutiques or down to the F-7 Jinnah Super Market is the conventional close.

Best Occasion Fit

As a first date, Aylanto delivers the polished-but-relaxed midpoint that reads as making-an-effort without going stiff. For birthdays the rooftop seats groups of six-to-ten and the kitchen accommodates cake-cutting. For impressing visiting clients, the F-7 neighbourhood setting and the Mediterranean menu work for the post-business-meeting wind-down.
