Cifadahan Café is the most considered aboriginal restaurant in Taiwan — an Amis indigenous-cuisine kitchen in Guangfu Township, thirty minutes inland from Hualien City, that has operated as a community-run restaurant for over two decades and is the reference point for any contemporary conversation about Taiwanese aboriginal fine dining.

The signature dish is the stone soup (shihui tang) — a traditional Amis preparation in which a bowl hand-woven from banana leaves is filled with local wild vegetables, prawns, and river fish, then brought to the table where red-hot stones are dropped into the broth to bring it to an immediate boil. The theatre of the service is the single most memorable aboriginal dining moment in the country, and the soup itself — a vegetal, mineral, deeply-flavoured broth — is the menu's anchor.

The rest of the menu runs the Amis canon: salt-grilled whole fish prepared over charcoal in an open-fire pit, millet-wine-infused pork, wild mountain vegetables (pak choi varieties that grow only at altitude in this valley), and bamboo-rice (rice steamed inside a sealed bamboo stick over coals). The food is served family-style on low tables; parties are expected to sit on cushions on the floor in the traditional Amis manner.

The Guangfu location is a thirty-minute drive from central Hualien; for a team trip or a family visit, coordinating transportation (private car via the hotel concierge) is the preferred approach. The restaurant will set a tasting menu for eight to twelve that moves the party through the full Amis repertoire over ninety minutes to two hours; for a solo diner or a couple, a-la-carte ordering around the stone soup and one grilled-fish course is the canonical order.
