The Room
Philippe Verpiand — born in Provence, classically trained — opened Etoile Cuisine on Uptown Park in 2012. Thirteen years later the room is the longest-running serious-French dining room in West Houston, with a Provence-influenced menu and a serious wine programme.
The Houston Press has held Etoile on its top-French-restaurant rankings every year of operation. The booking window has held at one week for weekend two-tops.
The Food
The menu runs Provence-influenced French-bistro classic. The bouillabaisse, the duck confit, the steak frites, the seasonal-rotating Provence specials run as the menu's spine. The three-course prix-fixe at $55 is the order for a first visit.
Wine programme runs French. Cocktails are classic-French. Service is brigade-French in rhythm.
