About Terarosa Coffee Anmok

Terarosa Coffee is the Korean specialty-coffee roastery that built Gangneung's reputation as the country's coffee city. The Anmok Beach branch — opened in 2009 in a steel-and-glass low-rise on the Coffee Street promenade — is the brand's fourteenth Korea-wide outlet but is the one most-associated with Gangneung's coffee identity. The Coffee Street itself, a hundred-cafe stretch along Anmok Beach south of central Gangneung, attracts more than a million visitors annually and is the city's primary daytime tourist destination.

The menu runs across three layers. Coffee — sixty single-origin Arabica beans roasted in the Gujeong roastery twenty minutes south, served as filter, espresso, or cold-brew (₩7,000-9,500 a cup). Brunch — breakfast plates, salads, sandwiches, and a few Korean-influenced dishes (kimchi fried rice with a fried egg, bibimbap-style salad bowl), running ₩14,000-22,000. Pastry — house-baked croissants, scones, and a marquee Gangneung-only matcha-and-Hanwoo-sausage savory roll the brand calls a 'Gangneung Special'.

The room seats one hundred and sixty across two floors plus a beachfront outdoor terrace. The view from the second-floor window seats — full ocean horizon, the Gyeongpo Beach pavilion to the north, the East Sea sunrise visible in winter mornings — is the entire architectural premise. Walk-ins outside weekend peaks work; the queue at peak runs forty minutes.

What makes Terarosa Anmok the right Coffee Street anchor rather than just one of a hundred cafes is the roastery integration — the beans are roasted twenty minutes away, the staff are trained baristas (most have national barista-competition experience), and the brand's coffee is genuinely the country's reference specialty roast. For travellers building a Gangneung day around the city's UNESCO Gastronomy designation, this is the morning anchor.

Best Occasion Fit

First dates in Gangneung — the Anmok Beach view, the casual coffee-and-brunch format, and the after-meal beach walk make a low-stakes high-impact morning. Solo travellers — second-floor window seat, ocean horizon, two-hour reading session over filter coffee. Team dinners as the brunch element of a longer Gangneung day work without ceremony.
