About Origens Restaurante
Origens opened in 2014 and has quietly become Évora's most ambitious modern restaurant. Chef Sara Catarina trained in some of Portugal's better kitchens before opening her own dining room on Rua de Burgos, and the cooking is the rare modern Alentejo programme that respects the regional tradition without being captured by it.
The format is a single tasting menu of seven or twelve courses, available in shorter à la carte form for those with less time. The cooking is precise, technique-led modern Portuguese — black pork with sweet potato three ways, prawn carpaccio with regional herbs, an Alentejo cheese course built around four small producers, a celebrated rose-petal sorbet finished tableside.
The wine pairings are confident and the list reaches deep into Alentejo while keeping a strong representation from Douro and the Algarve. The dining room is contemporary — pale wood, white walls, a small open kitchen — and the service is professional and unhurried.
For a contract dinner that should feel current rather than nostalgic, a senior client who wants to see modern Portuguese cooking, or a date that needs precision and a short tasting menu, Origens is the right call.
Why It Works for Close a Deal
The seven-course tasting moves at a pace that allows business conversation without rushing it, and the modern Portuguese register signals exactly the right thing for a senior client meeting.
