About Ristorante Miky
Michele and Simonetta opened Miky on Via Fegina — the Monterosso seafront promenade — in 1980. Their daughter Sara and her husband Boris now run the kitchen and front-of-house. The restaurant entered the Michelin Guide in 1990 (two forks, retained through 2026) and is the most decorated dining room in the entire Cinque Terre. The dining room faces directly onto the Fegina beach and the Ligurian Sea; the terrace in summer is the single most-photographed dinner shot in Monterosso.
The cooking is Ligurian-serious. Everything from the sea is landed by Monterosso fishermen at 06:00 and is on the kitchen bench by 07:30. The signature dish is the spaghetti with Monterosso anchovies, lemon zest, and a breadcrumb crust that the kitchen blowtorches tableside — a classic Ligurian technique rarely done well outside the region. Pasta is all hand-made (spaghetti alla chitarra, stuffed ravioli with borage and ricotta); the minestrone alla genovese with fresh pesto is the benchmark version; the whole turbot baked in salt crust (for two, €95 per person) is the showpiece.
The wine list is 250 labels with a deep Ligurian section — every Cinque Terre DOC producer on the coast, the full Sciacchetrà range (which normally requires special order), and the small-grower Vermentino from the Colli di Luni DOC ten minutes inland. Sara's sommelier service is unhurried and will walk a willing guest through three Sciacchetrà side-by-side at dessert if asked.
The dining room seats 75 across the indoor hall and the seafront terrace. Service is family — Sara in the front, Boris in the kitchen, Simonetta still on the floor — and conversation is welcomed. This is the Cinque Terre dinner, against which every other meal in the five villages is compared.
Why It's Perfect for Birthday
Birthday-ideal: Miky has the Ligurian equivalent of a corner window and Sara's team will do a discreet candle-in-dessert if you tell them at booking. The menu works for a table of 2, 4, 6, or 10 without the kitchen losing composition. Book the seafront terrace edge for sunset, order the spaghetti-con-alici for the whole table, finish with three Sciacchetrà side-by-side.
