Mix Sweet Shop operates on the premise that dessert deserves the same sourcing attention and technical rigor as any other part of a meal. Oregon hazelnuts, Rogue Valley stone fruit, and locally sourced dairy applied to pastry and chocolate with genuine skill.
The chocolate program uses Oregon-grown cacao where possible and single-origin bars where the sourcing justifies the premium. The result is a confectionery case that holds its own against any major-city chocolate shop.
The gelato uses Rogue Valley stone fruit. The peaches, nectarines, and plums that the valley's Mediterranean climate produces with unusual sweetness. To produce seasonal flavors that are available for about six weeks and then gone until next year.
The downtown location means that Mix captures the post-theater dessert crowd and the pre-theater pastry crowd. The two movements of the Ashland day that require sugar.
