Nine Pin Cider Works — Cidery / Light Food, Albany
Nine Pin Cider Works opened in 2013 as New York State's first farm cidery under the state's new farm cider license — a legal category that required using 51% New York State apples. The taproom in Albany's warehouse district has become a destination for both cider enthusiasts and visitors discovering that upstate New York makes something worth drinking.
The cider range spans from the approachable (the flagship Albany Amber) to the adventurous (barrel-aged, dry-hopped, and seasonal small-batch releases). All use Hudson Valley apples from farms within 50 miles.
The food menu is intentionally modest — charcuterie, cheese, snacks, and the occasional small plate. The cider is the point; the food supports it without pretending to be the reason.
The taproom's industrial setting — exposed brick, high ceilings, visible production equipment — provides the authentic craft-production atmosphere that the cider deserves.
Best Occasion: Good for Solo Dining
A flight of Hudson Valley ciders, a charcuterie board, and the Albany warehouse district. The solo afternoon that the Capital District's craft scene provides.
Best Occasion: Works for Team Dinners
Cider flights for the team, charcuterie boards, and the cidery's production atmosphere. A team outing rather than a team dinner, but no less successful for it.
