About Mawal

Mawal is the Arabic-tavern-format Lebanese restaurant inside the Al Ain Rotana — the Lebanese-and-Levantine flagship for the Al Ain Rotana property, sister-venue to the Hili Rayhaan's Min Zaman. The restaurant occupies a separate dining-and-bar pavilion within the hotel grounds, with the Arabic-tent-style dining-hall, the central live-band stage, the open-mezze-cart service, and the running Sunday-Thursday-Friday-Saturday evening live music programme that runs from the resident Arab-pop singers and oud-and-darbuka instrumentalists.

The menu is the Lebanese-tavern canon. The signatures are the open-mezze spread (hummus, moutabal, fattoush, tabbouleh, kibbeh-niye, makanek-Lebanese-sausage, sambousek), the charcoal-grilled mixed-grill, the saj-bread baked-to-order, the Saudi-Arabian shawarma-platter, and the famous Lebanese knafeh-with-rosewater-syrup dessert. A multi-course Lebanese dinner-with-arak for two runs AED 350-500 ($95-135).

The room is the Arabic-tavern-celebration set-piece. The Arabic-tent-style decor, the live-band stage, the dance-floor-after-eleven-pm format, and the table-side bread-baking from the open-tannour all combine to make Mawal the Garden-City Arab-celebration-dinner standby. Capacity is around 180 across the main dining hall and the bar section.

Reservations matter for the Thursday-Saturday weekend evenings; one week ahead is enough. The restaurant accepts cards, the menu carries Arabic-English, and the alcohol-licence covers the Lebanese-arak-and-wine selection.

Best Occasion Fit

For birthdays — the Arab-tavern-celebration setting and the live-band-and-dance-floor format make the celebration-dinner work properly without going formal; the kitchen will plate a cake. As a first date the live-band-Lebanese-tavern rhythm carries the festive-but-romantic effort. For team dinners the long-table mezze-sharing and the dance-floor deliver the proper Garden-City Arab-celebration rhythm.
