The Room
Renee Erickson opened The London Plane on Occidental Avenue in 2014 — the Sea Creatures group's Pioneer Square expression, dedicated to the proposition that the neighbourhood needed a serious all-day European cafe. The dining room is intentionally cinematic: a flower shop at the front, hand-painted murals, a long bar facing the open bakery, and the kind of careful design that the Sea Creatures group has built its national reputation on.
The Seattle Times review held The London Plane among the year's best new restaurants in 2015. The Eater Seattle list has named the room a multi-year top-twenty entry.
The Food
The bakery programme — croissants, sourdough, the seasonal-rotating pastry case — runs all day. The cafe menu runs European-cafe-classic: tartines, salads, the seasonal-rotating sandwich programme. The brunch service handles a serious eggs-and-Champagne weekend programme.
Wine programme is small but considered. Cocktails are short and aperitivi-led. Service is the Sea Creatures group standard.
