The Restaurant
Gigi's Montauk opened on June 16, 2025 as the new dining flagship of Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa - the cliffside hotel on Old Montauk Highway that has anchored the high end of the village's hospitality for half a century. The room replaces the resort's previous Scarpetta outpost with a vibrant, social, sharing-driven coastal Italian concept designed around the only true oceanfront fine-dining views on the South Fork. Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto the Atlantic on one side and a terrace deck that descends toward the beach on the other.
The menu reads as a postcard from the Italian Riviera mailed back through a Hamptons summer. The Angry Lobster - a 1.5-pound whole Maine lobster pulled from the wood oven in a smoky, spicy tomato-and-Calabrian-chili pan sauce - is the signature plate. The Giant Shrimp Scampi arrives at the table in a copper pan still bubbling with garlic butter and white wine. The Hamachi Gigi roll, a spicy yellowtail composition wrapped in soy paper, is the bar-seat order. Handmade pastas - tagliolini with sea urchin, cacio e pepe with crab, agnolotti with summer truffle - change weekly.
The wine list runs deep on Northern Italian whites and Burgundy, with a careful champagne section that suits the marriage proposals the room is increasingly hosting. The cocktail bar facing the ocean is a destination on its own - order an Aperol spritz at golden hour, watch the dolphins, and remember that this is what Gurney's was built for. Service is polished, multilingual, and trained for the international hotel guest who expects the level of a Capri or a St. Barths address. For the price tier, Gigi's now sits in the conversation with the very best of the East End.
Why This Is Montauk’s Impress Clients Pick
For impressing a client visiting the Hamptons - and clients increasingly do visit the Hamptons in summer - Gigi's is the address. Book the corner four-top with the deepest Atlantic exposure for an 8pm seating, order the seafood tower and the Angry Lobster for the table, and let the room do the work. For a milestone birthday or a discreet proposal, the back banquette closest to the windows is the seat to request. The combination of oceanfront view, hotel-flagship service, and a kitchen that is actually cooking at a high level is rare anywhere - and unique in Montauk.
