About Arven Restaurant
Arven Restaurant occupies a stone cottage on a side street in Alaçatı's old town, with a walled garden under lemon and pomegranate trees that is the single most atmospheric dining space in the entire Çeşme peninsula. The cottage is 19th-century Greek-style vernacular architecture — white stucco walls, blue painted shutters, a worn-stone entrance — and the garden was replanted in 2019 with mature citrus trees brought from the Gökçen valley.
Chef Zafer Ayaz (previously sous at Istanbul's Mikla) runs a modern-Turkish menu that respects classical Aegean technique but updates the presentation. Starters include a raw-fish carpaccio with blood-orange and sumac; a smoked-aubergine babaganoush served with kombu-fermented chilli oil; a grilled artichoke heart with goat-curd and wild-thyme honey. Mains run from a spice-crusted lamb rack to a whole barbun grilled over vine clippings, served with the bone marrow on the side.
The wine list is the restaurant's strongest card — 220 labels with a Wine Spectator Best of Award since 2024, a proper natural-wine section, and a three-page Turkish small-grower line-up that is the best in the Aegean. House pours are TRY 180 (€4.80); a 2019 Barbare Cabernet Franc is TRY 1,400 (€37). The sommelier, Alara, trained at Neolokal and speaks enough Turkish-English-French to handle most tables without awkwardness.
The garden holds 50 covers across nine tables; the indoor room adds 25 for cooler evenings. Service is quiet, professional, and does not rush. Dinner runs two and a half hours comfortably. This is the Alaçatı restaurant you take a business partner to when the meeting is civil but serious.
Why It's Perfect for Close a Deal
Closing a deal needs a table where conversation can run uninterrupted and both parties can signal seriousness through their order. Arven provides the staging: the walled garden insulates you from the main Alaçatı street; the wine list lets the sommelier handle the performance; the two-and-a-half-hour pace gives the conversation room to breathe. Book the back-corner garden table under the pomegranate, pre-decide the bill, order the tasting menu with pairings.
